Seniors Scammed out of Millions

A group of people scammed hundreds of different seniors in U.S.A out of  3 million dollars. They said that they were a grandson that was arrested on Vacation. They phoned the Senior and told them that they got arrested, and they got someone else involved in the crime to say that they were the police or a lawyer to make them sound more official. They made 200 calls per day on average, and the usually were able to get 2,500 to 6,000$ out of 15 to 20 seniors every day.

I think this is terrible. I don't understand why someone would ever do this. Scamming anyone out of money is wrong, but scamming seniors out of money pretending to be a grandson is even worse. Although it is a terrible crime these people were fairly smart about it. They made themselves sound like they were actually in trouble and they did a good job of tricking the seniors. Using an off shore bank account was also smart because then it is harder to track by the American police. Although they did a good job, you can never do a good enough job, because if you are going to commit a crime your going to get caught.
