Volcano Erupting in Japan
The volcano in Japan has been smoking and erupting the past couple days, and it is causing people to evacuate. The Shinmoedake Volcano is and 1,421 metres wide. It erupted for the first time in 52 years. This volcano has made over 1000 people move from their homes and go to safety. It was on Monday last week that it erupted, sending lava into the air along with rocks that flew and broke windows in houses and also damaged many cars. This is making many people have to leave to evacuation centers, that might not hold everyone.

This handout picture, taken by the Japan Meteorological Agency on January 31, 2011 shows white smoke raising from a lava dome in a crater of Shinmoedake in Kirishima mountain range in Kagoshima prefecture, Japan's southern island of Kyushu.  I think that the people of Japan are handling the situation very well, they are able to get everyone evacuated and keep them safe. This volcano could be very dangerous and it could hurt and potentially kill many people. The volcano is still smoking and people don't know if it will erupt again, or if the lava will spread and cause more people to evacuate. I think that the people of Japan have to remain cautious, because you never know if the volcano is going to erupt again or not.

Burning rubber in front of the OPP
A 19 year old Perth county resident was doing a break stand in front of a stoplight. A break stand is when you has your foot on the break and you slam the gas to make your tires spin without moving. The police officer who was parked right beside the stoplight saw the man and pulled him over. The man now has to get his truck impounded for seven days, and he also has his licence seized.

This is one of the worst reasons to get your truck impounded and you licence sized. This could be so avoidable just by pulling over into your friends house and doing a break stand there. I also don't understand why he would do it at a stoplight. It seems like that would be the easiest place to get caught, if he went to one of the back roads at least he'd be away from traffic and potential police officers. This is another simple mistake to avoid, but it lead to getting caught for something pointless.

Handcuffed prisoners fall out of  moving van:
Three prisoners were being drove to court for a meeting. All three of them were hand cuffed together in the van, but somehow they fell out. The door of the van was supposed to be locked, but the prisoners were still able to fall out of an open door. All three of them were taken away in an ambulance and it wasn't clear on what their injuries were. The indecent is now being investigated and police are trying to figure out how the doors swung open, and why they weren't locked.

I think this situation could have been easily avoided if the people who were putting the prisoners in the van were just paying attention. It might have been that there was something wrong with the door, but it easily could have been a mistake. I also don't understand why the three men handcuffed together would jump out of a moving van. That would just injure them, and then they would still be sent to prison if they were accused of being guilty after the meeting in court. I think that this could have been an easily avoid situation, if everyone was just paying a little bit more attention.
